Notes on the figures
- AC70, rated capacity: Rated capacity as listed in the manufacturer’s battery specifications.
- RIVER 2 Pro, rated capacity: Rated capacity as stated by the manufacturer; the spec sheet lists Capacity as 768Wh.
- AC70, continuous output: Rated continuous output; both AC outlets share this 1,000 W total.
- RIVER 2 Pro, continuous output: Total continuous AC output across all outlets combined.
- AC70, surge: Conventional surge rating; the page separately markets a Power Lifting boost mode of 2,000 W for resistive loads, and its FAQ warns that motor and compressor loads can surge 2-4 times their rated power.
- RIVER 2 Pro, surge: The stated surge figure equals the X-Boost figure the page markets for running high-wattage resistive appliances such as hair dryers, microwaves, and electric kettles. It is not a conventional motor-start surge rating and should not be read as one.
- AC70, full recharge: Converted from the stated 1.3-1.6 hours in 950 W Turbo Charging mode; the page also advertises 0-80% in 45 minutes, and its FAQ says a full charge takes about 1.5 hours.
- RIVER 2 Pro, full recharge: Full 0-100% recharge from a wall outlet.
- AC70, cell chemistry: Lithium iron phosphate chemistry as stated in the battery specifications.
- RIVER 2 Pro, cell chemistry: The spec sheet lists the cell chemistry as LFP.
- AC70, cycle life: Stated as 3,000 or more cycles before capacity falls to 80% of original.
- AC70, cycle life: Capacity-retention threshold from the same specification line as the cycle count.
- RIVER 2 Pro, cycle life: The manufacturer states this equals roughly 10 years of everyday use.
- RIVER 2 Pro, cycle life: The battery is rated to retain at least 80 percent of its original capacity after 3,000 charge cycles.
- AC70, UPS switchover: Upper bound. The page describes the switchover as seamless UPS in 20 ms.
- RIVER 2 Pro, UPS switchover: Upper bound. The manufacturer markets this as an EPS auto-switch for essential devices during outages rather than a full UPS.
- AC70, expandable: Expansion works in Power Bank Mode with the B80 (806 Wh), B230 (2,048 Wh), or B300 (3,072 Wh) expansion batteries.
- AC70, solar input: Maximum solar input; the panel’s open-circuit voltage must fall within 12-58 VDC at up to 10 A.
- RIVER 2 Pro, solar input: Maximum solar input, with an accepted voltage range of 11-50 V at up to 13 A.
- AC70, AC input: Maximum wall input, reached in Turbo Charging mode enabled through the BLUETTI App; one marketing bullet on the same page says 850 W Turbo Charging, but the specification table and FAQ both state 950 W.
- RIVER 2 Pro, AC input: Maximum AC wall-charging input power.
- AC70, AC outlets: Two 120 V outlets sharing 1,000 W of total output.
- AC70, USB-C: Two USB-C ports, each rated up to 100 W.
- RIVER 2 Pro, USB-C: The USB-C port is a shared input/output port rated at 100 W maximum in either direction.
- AC70, app: App control works over Bluetooth via the BLUETTI App; the specification table also lists ‘Mobile APP: Yes’.
- RIVER 2 Pro, app: Controlled through the EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
- AC70, noise: Applies to the silent AC charging mode only; the page does not state noise levels for the other charging modes or for discharging.
- RIVER 2 Pro, noise: Upper bound, occurring when charging and discharging at high wattage.
- AC70, warranty: As listed in the specification table; the page also advertises a 90-day express replacement service.
- RIVER 2 Pro, warranty: Stated on the product page as one of the most extended warranties in the industry.
- AC70, weight: Approximate figure; the manufacturer states it as ‘About 22.5 lbs’.
- RIVER 2 Pro, weight: The spec sheet lists net weight as approximately 18.2 lb.
- AC70, price: Price shown for the standalone unit with no separate list or sale price displayed; the product was listed as out of stock with an expected restock in early September.
- RIVER 2 Pro, price: List price; a sale price of $349.00 was shown at the time of capture.

Calculated, not measured: hours = rated Wh × efficiency ÷ (appliance W × duty); assumptions on How we verify. “Unlikely to start”: start-up surge exceeds the stated surge rating. “Start-up not assessed” appears where the start-up draw meets or exceeds the unit’s continuous rating and the unit states no conventional motor-start surge to check it against (RIVER 2 Pro); the hours assume the motor starts.
What the differences mean
Price per watt-hour. At the list prices we checked, the AC70 costs $0.47/Wh against $0.69/Wh for the RIVER 2 Pro. At list the AC70 is $170 cheaper ($359 vs $529) for 768 Wh vs 768 Wh. Prices move with sales; the ratio moves with them.
Weight for the capacity. The RIVER 2 Pro carries 42.2 Wh/lb against 34.1 Wh/lb for the AC70. Both are two-hands-and-a-flat-surface units; the difference matters if the unit moves between car, porch and basement.
Output for the money. 2.79 W/$ on the AC70 against 1.51 W/$ on the RIVER 2 Pro: read this row first if the job is powering one heavy load rather than trickling many light ones.
Which one, and for whom
On normalized measures the AC70 leads on cost per watt-hour ($0.47/Wh vs $0.69/Wh) and continuous watts per dollar (2.79 W/$ vs 1.51 W/$). The RIVER 2 Pro answers on watt-hours per pound (42.2 Wh/lb vs 34.1 Wh/lb). Which figure settles it depends on what you need to keep running:
- CPAP overnight. Switchover: AC70 up to 20 ms, RIVER 2 Pro under 30 ms. A 40 W CPAP runs roughly 13–17 hr on the AC70 and 13–17 hr on the RIVER 2 Pro. Both run the night; both switchover figures are upper bounds, so they are too close to call from published numbers.
- Keeping a refrigerator cold. Check start-up before runtime. The AC70 states a 1,500 W surge rating; the RIVER 2 Pro states a boost figure rather than a motor-start surge rating. A full-size refrigerator needs about 900 W to start.
- A multi-day outage with a generator or solar to recharge from. Full recharge: AC70 a stated 78–96 min range, RIVER 2 Pro 70 min. The faster unit spends less generator fuel per charge.

A 768 Wh battery cannot do what a gasoline generator does — neither unit’s continuous rating covers a 1,500 W space heater (see the runtime table) — but it also cannot poison a household.
