Specifications checked against manufacturer pages on 2026-08-23.
The Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus (2,042.8 Wh, 3,000 W) and the Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 (2,042 Wh, 2,200 W), compared on the figures their makers publish. On the normalized ratios, the Explorer 2000 v2 costs less per watt-hour ($0.49/Wh vs $1.08/Wh).
In short. The Explorer 2000 v2 leads on every normalized measure that could be decided: cost per watt-hour ($0.49/Wh vs $1.08/Wh), watt-hours per pound (51.7 Wh/lb vs 33.2 Wh/lb), recharge rate (19.4 Wh/min vs 17.0 Wh/min) and continuous watts per dollar (2.20 W/$ vs 1.36 W/$). The other 2 of 6 tie or cannot be compared. Read the runtime table before deciding — a clean sweep on ratios does not mean the other unit fails your outage. Note: the Explorer 2000 Plus is listed as discontinued at the manufacturer; the price used here is its last list price.

What the differences mean
Price per watt-hour. At the list prices we checked, the Explorer 2000 v2 costs $0.49/Wh against $1.08/Wh for the Explorer 2000 Plus. At list the Explorer 2000 v2 is $1,200 cheaper ($999 vs $2,199) for 2,042 Wh vs 2,042.8 Wh. Prices move with sales; the ratio moves with them. Note: the Explorer 2000 Plus is listed as discontinued at the manufacturer; its figure here is the last list price shown.
Weight for the capacity. The Explorer 2000 v2 carries 51.7 Wh/lb against 33.2 Wh/lb for the Explorer 2000 Plus. Both are cart-or-two-people units; the difference matters if the unit moves between car, porch and basement.
Recharge. The Explorer 2000 v2 completes a wall recharge in 105 minutes against 120 for the Explorer 2000 Plus — about 15 fewer minutes of generator run time per charge in a multi-day outage.
Output for the money. 2.20 W/$ on the Explorer 2000 v2 against 1.36 W/$ on the Explorer 2000 Plus: if what you need is to run a high-draw appliance rather than to run a small one for days, this ratio is the one to read.
Which one, and for whom
On normalized measures the Explorer 2000 v2 leads on cost per watt-hour ($0.49/Wh vs $1.08/Wh), watt-hours per pound (51.7 Wh/lb vs 33.2 Wh/lb), recharge rate (19.4 Wh/min vs 17.0 Wh/min) and continuous watts per dollar (2.20 W/$ vs 1.36 W/$). The Explorer 2000 Plus does not lead on any decided measure. What decides it is the figure your outage actually tests:
- CPAP overnight. Switchover: Explorer 2000 Plus 20 ms, Explorer 2000 v2 under 20 ms. A 40 W CPAP runs roughly 36–42 hr on the Explorer 2000 Plus and 36–42 hr on the Explorer 2000 v2. Both makers state 20 ms, so for one night’s CPAP the deciding figures are price and solar input.
- Keeping a refrigerator cold. Start-up comes first. The Explorer 2000 Plus states a 6,000 W surge rating; the Explorer 2000 v2 states a 4,400 W surge rating. A full-size refrigerator needs about 900 W to start.
- A multi-day outage with a generator or solar to recharge from. Full recharge: Explorer 2000 Plus 120 min, Explorer 2000 v2 105 min. The faster unit spends less generator fuel per charge.

A 2,042–2,042.8 Wh battery cannot do what a gasoline generator does — the runtime table shows a 1,500 W space heater emptying either unit in about 1.2 hr — but it also cannot poison a household. Our CPSC revision matrix tracks how the official count of generator carbon-monoxide deaths has changed across report editions, and this page puts every verified unit on the same refrigerator scenario.
