Editorial Guidelines

Independence. No manufacturer, retailer, or affiliate programme reviews our content before publication, influences which products we cover, or has any input into how a product is described. We do not accept payment for coverage, placement, or a favourable conclusion.

Affiliate links do not affect judgement. Some buying content earns a commission. The commission rate on a product plays no part in whether it is recommended. Our reference datasets contain no affiliate links, so that anyone citing them is citing something with no commercial interest attached.

Sourcing. Factual claims are attributed to a named source and linked. Vague attribution is not permitted. Figures that cannot be traced to a primary source are removed rather than softened.

Claims we will not make. We do not claim to have physically tested equipment we have not tested. We do not present a manufacturer’s marketing figure as an independent measurement. We do not state a failure rate or a risk level when no denominator has been published.

AI use. We use software to compile datasets, normalise units, generate tables and charts from those datasets, and run consistency checks. Every published figure is traceable to a primary source, and a person reviews the result before it goes live. We do not publish text that asserts facts no one has checked.

Corrections. Errors are fixed promptly and visibly. Where a correction changes a figure, we also correct every other page that cites it, and we note the change rather than quietly editing it. If you believe something here is wrong, tell us and we will check it.

Updates. Product content is revisited when models change or prices move materially. Reference datasets are refreshed when the underlying source publishes a new edition, and the previous figures remain visible so that changes can be seen.
